Perception

Perception

What do you see?

What do you hear?

What are you touching?

Who is the Assistant?

A daily television gameshow treatment

The Proposal:

A bright, pacey, visually stimulating, Monday-to-Friday daytime, studio-based gameshow that relies on teamwork and tests the powers of sight, hearing, touch and co-ordination. Points can be amassed by the 2 teams throughout the course of each show by successfully completing tests of perception; only to be placed in jeopardy in a final round on the Friday show which could see the prize fund dwindle: unless the contestants keep their cool and prove their skills of co-ordination. Each team of 6 contestants will be present throughout a week of shows.

The show is hosted by a presenter who, in each set of 5 programmes, interacts with a new, Mystery Assistant: a ‘character’ new to television. However, towards the end of the Friday edition, the programme delivers an astonishing surprise involving the Mystery Assistant, who is revealed as a hitherto disguised, well-known celebrity. PERCEPTION runs through every aspect of this gameshow!

Each week will see a different, heavily-disguised celebrity, playing the role of ‘Mystery Assistant’ in his/her own special way. Prosthetic make-up, costume and voice characterisation will keep everyone guessing. Salient remarks peppered through the programme links will give clues as to the Assistant’s identity, with the penultimate Round in each show allowing the contestants to quiz the Assistant about their identity, by way of Yes/No answers.

Having teased the contestants and audience throughout the week, ‘the big reveal’ will be both enlightening and sublime. How will the viewers react? How will the contestants react when they realise who they’ve been appearing alongside? So, in keeping with the philosophy of the show, PERCEPTION will challenge all who take part: the contestants; the studio audience; and the viewer.
